Sri Lankan ace spinner Murali takes 800 test wickets
Sri Lankan ace spinner Muttiah Muralitharan has taken 800 test wickets becoming the first-ever cricker to achieve this milestone. Muralitharan, who is playing his last Test match, had already taken six wickets in the match.
This performance, by Test cricket’s most prolific wicket-taker, who finished with figures of 5-63 for the innings, was integral to Sri Lanka’s dismissal of India for 276 in their first innings. And when Sri Lanka (who made 520 before declaring in their first innings) enforced the follow-on Murali added one more scalp before stumps on day four to edge closer to the milestone.
