Kolhapur Medical Mega Camp 2010 held by SHREE ANIRUDDHA UPASANA FOUNDATION (KHAR, MUMBAI) along with its sister organizations such as SADGURU SHREE ANIRUDDHA UPASANA TRUST, DILASA MEDICAL TRUST & REHABILITATION CENTRE, ANIRUDDHA AADESH PATHAK, ANIRUDDHA'S HOUSE OF FRIENDS AND ANIRUDDHA'S ACADEMY OF DISASTER MANAGEMENT, held on 14th & 15th Feb. 2010 at Shahuwadi Taluka, Pendakhale Village of Kolhapur. Shree Aniruddha Upasana Foundation (SAUF) is a charitable organization incorporated under Section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956. Shree Aniruddha Upasana Foundation (SAUF) along with Dilasa Medical Trust & Rehabilitation Centre (DMTRC) and other affiliated organizations, including Aniruddha's Academy of Disaster Management (AADM) all of which are registered charitable organizations, undertake various socio-cultural activities, one of witch is the Kolhapur Medical and Health Camp. For the past six years, unique mega medical camp is being conducted in a backward area of Kolhapur District, covering nearly 200 village. This is the seventh year of this camp. The medical team comprises of physician Ophthalmologists, Dentists, Pediatricians, Gynecologists, ENT surgeons, Cardiologists, Orthopedists and General Practitioners.Although the Camp is held For 1 day, the planning Commences months in advance. Post the camp, regular follow up activity is maintained, leading right up to the time to planning for the next camp. Data of every remote village and villagers covered by the camp is maintained by volunteers to meet the exact requirements of the villagers. During the recently conclude 2008 mega medical camp, 16 thousand 300 villagers from 200 villages including 7 thousand 634 school children, benefited from the camp.

When a bomb shattered the tranquil lanes of Koregaon Park, there were some who came to the rescue of those injured in the blast.Here are the stories of these brave women and men - STORIES OF BRAVE VOLUNTEERS OF ANIRUDDHA'S ACADEMY OF DISASTER MANAGEMENT

Following is the extract from the news article that was published in the Monday, 15th February 2010 issue of Pune Mirror.

- While the bomb blast sent waves of panic and shock all across the city, there were a few brave men and women who jumped in and saved the lives of those who were injured in the blast that tore through German Bakery on Saturday.

Among the many saviours, were volunteers of Aniruddha’s Academy of Disaster Management. They rushed to Sassoon Hospital and helped the police with internal crowd management and administration, to help them contact relatives of those injured and assisted nurses and staff in shift ing the patients to the general ward and ICU. The group also guided people who had to go to the scanning, sonography and X ray departments. Jagdishsinh Patil, who headed the group of 19 said, “We guided almost 45 people to the different wards. We also spoke to patients and helped them contact their relatives and vice versa.”

Sapnaveera Sawant, was one of the nineteen members of this group, who assisted the police, administration, nurses and staff of Sassoon Hospital in shifting the casualties from one ward to another and controlling the chaos that ensued at the hospital after the blast occurred. She stopped panicked relatives and friends of people from running into the hospital and causing more confusion.

“There was this waiter at German Bakery called Paras from Nepal. We met him at Sassoon, he was injured and bleeding. He told us that he saw a black bag under a table inside the bakery. He went to inform the manager at the counter and started serving water. This was when the explosion took place which prompted him to run out of the Bakery.”

Tanaji's Impossibly Brave Deed

The fort of Kondana, which is today on the outskirts of Pune town was then an outpost overlooking Pune and the surrounding countryside. It was strategically placed in the center of a string of forts of Rajgad, Purandar, and Torna. The capture of Kondana was necessary if Shivaji Maharaj was to re-establish de facto control over the Pune region.

Recognizing the strategic importance of Kondana, the Mughals had maintained a battalion of 5000 troops led by Udai Bhan, a relative of Mirza Raja Jai Singh. The fort was built in such a way that all its approaches were covered by cannon-fire. Only on turret was not well defended as it was at the top of a vertical overhanging cliff.

Tanaji decided that this was the only way, he could enter the fort. He dressed himself as a Gondhali (devotee of the Goddess Bhavani of Tuljapur) and roamed the surrounding villages. He won the trust of one Mahadev Koli who was in the service of Udai Bhan. Koli presented the disguished Tanaji to Udai Bhan, who was suitably impressed by this "devotee" and allowed him free access to the fort.


The Ghorpad Cliff

This is the sheer cliff that Tanaji and his brave Mavalas (comrades) scaled to surprise the Muslim army that was engrossed in a drunken orgy on the plateau seen at the top during a dark night in 1669.

Tanaji carried out a careful surveillance of the fort and at that very night when he was told that at the overhanging cliff Udai Bhan and all his senior commanders would be celebrating a usual party with an alcohol and dance orgy; Tanaji decided that he should seize this opportunity.

With almost all his troops, Udai Bhan had a roaring party on top of the overhanging cliff. Unknown to them after midnight, Tanaji and his brave followers who numbered 300 scaled the cliff using ropes tied to a reptile called Ghorpad. The Ghorpad can stick fast to any surface and a number of adults can use this force to scale a vertical cliff with the help of a rope, one end of which is tied to the Ghorpad. Silently Tanaji and his comrades slunk up to the top of the cliff.

On the other side his uncle Shelar Mama and his brother Suryaji had moved close to the other gates of the forts with another 300 Mavalas (Maratha Soldiers). On a signal from Tanaji, all his comrades who has taken up strategic position all round the celebrating Mughal army, broke into the party and mercilessly fell upon their enemies. They started slaughtering the surprised and ill-prepared and drunken Muslim soldiers.

When Udai Bhan saw that Tanaji - the leader of this invading band of Marathas was no other than the devotee whom he had given permission to visit the fort, he flew into a mad rage. On seeing Tanaji, Udai Bhan rushed at him and we are told that for a few fatal seconds, Tanaji started dancing in the same fashion as he had done as a Gondhali (devotee) when he had met Udai Bhan earlier in the day. The enraged Udai Bhan lunged at dancing Tanaji and cut off the arm with which Tanaji was holding his shield. But undaunted Tanaji used his turban to ward off further thrusts from the blade of Udai Bhan's sword and continued fighting him for 2 hours in this state with his wristless left arm bleeding profusely. It is for this feat of Tanaji, that he is called Narvir - Brave amongst Men.At the end of this ordeal, the exhausted Tanaji fell to a fatal swish of Udai Bhan's sword. But Udai Bhan too was throttled by Shelar Mama and thus lost his life.

Shivaji Maharaj is said to have said on this occasion "Gad aala, paan Sinha gela" (We have won the fort but have lost the Lion - Tanaji). The fort of Kondana was renamed as "Sinhagad" in honour of Tanaji's brave deed.

Republic Day of India – A Celebration of Sovereignty

26^th January 1950 is one of the most important days in Indian history as it was on this day the constitution of India came into force and India became a truly sovereign state. In this day India became a totally republican unit. The country finally realized the dream of Mahatma Gandhi and the numerous freedom fighters who, fought for and sacrificed their lives for the Independence of their country. So, the 26th of January was decreed a national holiday and has been recognized and celebrated as the Republic Day of India, ever since.

Today, the Republic Day is celebrated with much enthusiasm all over the country and especially in the capital, New Delhi where the celebrations start with the Presidential to the nation. The beginning of the occasion is always a solemn reminder of the sacrifice of the martyrs who died for the country in the freedom movement and the succeeding wars for the defense of sovereignty of their country. Then, the President comes forward to award the medals of bravery to the people from the armed forces for their exceptional courage in the field and also the civilians, who have distinguished themselves by their different acts of valour in different situations.

To mark the importance of this occasion, every year a grand parade is held in the capital, from the Rajghat, along the Vijaypath. The different regiments of the army, the Navy and the Air force march past in all their finery and official decorations even the horses of the cavalry are attractively caparisoned to suit the occasion. The crème of N.C.C cadets, selected from all over the country consider it an honour to participate in this event, as do the school children from various schools in the capital. They spend many days preparing for the event and no expense is spared to see that every detail is taken care of, from their practice for the drills, the essential props and their uniforms.

The parade is followed by a pageant of spectacular displays from the different states of the country. These moving exhibits depict scenes of activities of people in those states and the music and songs of that particular state accompany each display. Each display brings out the diversity and richness of the culture of India and the whole show lends a festive air to the occasion. The parade and the ensuing pageantry is telecast by the National Television and is watched by millions of viewers in every corner of the country.

The patriotic fervor of the people on this day brings the whole country together even in her essential diversity. Every part of the country is represented in occasion, which makes the Republic Day the most popular of all the national holidays of India.

Details of Origin of Sanskrit Language & About the Genes that Make Aniruddha Upasana Trust

Following is the extract from discourse of Param Poojya Aniruddha Bapu held on 12th November 2010.

The pravachan centred on one of the Vishnu-Sahastranaams "ॐ मन्त्राय नमः" ("Om Mantraya Namah"). P. P. Bapu began His discourse by describing various characteristics of Mantras. He said that ॐ or Om is the Adi Mantra or the basic mantra. This is the first form that Lord Parmatma took (When Big-Bang occurred and Universe was created, the sound of big-bang was ॐ).

Bapu further listed 8 Beej Mantra as follows:
1) "ऐइम" or "Aeim"
2) "ह्रीम" or "Hrim",
3) "क्लिम" or "Clim"
4) "श्रिम" or "Shrim"
5) "क्रिम" or "Crim"
6) "द्राम" or "Dram"
7) "स्त्रिम" or "Strim"
8) "ग्लौम" or "Gloum"

Bapu further said that "अ" to "रु" form the swars (sounds) and are termed as Hetu Beej and all vyanjans (व्यंजन) are Karya Beejs. Bapu explained that Sanskrit is a language which has not evolved naturally but has been specifically composed and devised by great Rushis namely Agastya Rushi and Vashishtha Rushi which is completely filled with specific Vibrations, Frequencies, etc. Sanskrit is pregnant with holiness (पावित्र्य), Purity (शुद्धता), strength (बल), Rules of Universe, 8 अष्टबीज ऐश्वर्ये (Ashtabeej Aishwarye), and नव-अंकुर ऐश्वर्ये (Nav Ankur Aishwarye) of Lord Parmatma. The Vyanjans instead of making us work, work directly in our life. The अष्टबीज ऐश्वर्ये know how to make other beejs work and bind them. A Mantra essentially is composed of all the above characters.

Sanskrit is such is language, which as described earlier is composed by Agastya Rushi and Vashishtha Rushi but Lord Parmatma's Saraswati shakti got this work done from these two great sages. Lord Parmatma in His Paramshiv form (Avtar) has described the pronunciation of Sanskrit and Devarshi Narad has first pronounced it.

Further Bapu said that Sanskrit has a special character that apart from व्याकरण (Grammar) it has वैय्याकरण (Vaiyyakaran) . Vaiyyakaran is the science of searching the relation between words and their basic form i.e. in simple words it describes the meaning of the words which our heart and not the mouth wants to convey.

Reciting religious hymns, verses, etc is Sanskrit is always beneficial but reciting them in other languages (if one is genuinely not comfortable with Sanskrit) is also considered of same effect, as most of the Indian languages and even other languages like English and German have been derived from Sanskrit and hence has all its properties of Sanskrit embedded in them. But still reciting in Sanskrit is considered 100% complete and reciting it in other languages is considered 99% complete and the difference between this 99 to 100 percentage is same as the difference between 1 and 99 percentage. Now if one starts speaking in Sanskrit it will not be considered as he his life has become Mantramay (filled with Lord) as Sanskrit as described above is based on Vaiyyakaran and not Vyakaran. Intension and Reason are always important in Sanskrit.

Then Bapu described 8 Properties of "What can be Called a Mantra?"

1) A Mantra has to be based and worked on principle of "Purity is the only Reference" (पावित्र्य हेच प्रमाण).

2) The author of the Mantra should not have the feeling and consideration (ego) either before or after composing the Mantra that He has composed it. He should always bear the thought in mind that this work is done from him by Lord Parmatma.

3) When the Mantra is pronounced is effects should not be contradictory on two different individuals. i.e. while prospering the person who chants it, it should not harm or destroy some other person.

4) The Mantra should act on all the three forms of our human body i.e. त्रिविध देह (Tri Vidh Deh) i.e. Actual (भौतिक), Pranmay (प्राणमय) and Mind (मनोमय).

5) The power of the Mantra should never diminish right from its origin till the undefined end.

6) Time and Place (direction) should have no effect on the Mantra but rather Mantra should have effect on them.

7) The Mantra should have power to encourage and strengthen all the 108 centres in the human body even if he is the sinner of sinners. This evaluation of Mantra can only be done by Rushis and not any common man.

8) Finally most importantly, the Mantra should have expression and expansion (विलास) of atleast one of the ashta beejs.

Taking the above points into consideration one should not be fooled to accept any Sanskrit text as Mantra. Just by attaching prefixes and suffixes like नाथाय नमः (Nathaya Namah) or महाराजाय नमः (Maharajaya Namah) by any person to his name of any other words they do not become Mantra and the person claiming to be Jagatguru and Sadguru is not the real Sadguru.

Finally Bapu illustrated Mantra with example and said that "ॐ कृपासिन्धु श्री साईं नाथाय नमः" ("Om Krupa Sindhu Shri Sai Nathaya Namah") and "ॐ अभयदाता श्री स्वामी सामर्थ्य नमः" ("Om Abhaydata Shri Swami Samarthaya Namah") are the Genes of Aniruddha Upasana Trust. They contain all the ashta beejs. Along with these two "ॐ मनः सामर्थ्यदाता श्री अनिरुद्धाय नमः" is also the mantra which contains all the 8 Ashta Beejs.

Bapu further described "ऐइम" or "Aeim" and "ग्लौम" or "Gloum" beejs as two Guru Beejs. ॐ कृपासिन्धु श्री साईं नाथाय नमः mantra travels and acts from ऐइम to ग्लौम beej and ॐ अभयदाता श्री स्वामी सामर्थ्य नमः mantra travels and acts from ग्लौम to ऐइम beej. This does not mean they act against each other but they actually have strengths of acting in two diverse conditions. Whereas ॐ मनः सामर्थ्यदाता श्री अनिरुद्धाय नमः is as loving as the name in it is. This mantra fits all requirements the beej mantras from ऐइम to ग्लौम according to need of the person. It cultivates that stuff which is otherwise impossible to cultivate. This mantra would inculcate devotion in you even if you don't recite with devotion while chanting.

Before ending His discourse Bapu said that He was made by Goddess Chandika and Lord Dattaguru before everything was made. Though so far we have only understood Ashta Beejs there is actually the 9th beej as well and that is the word "Dattaguru". Bapu has rightfully demanded this beej from His Dattaguru. This beej also belongs to all those Shraddhavans who love Bapu. This 9th Beej Mantra i.e. Dattaguru is completely impregnated with all the 8 Beejs Mantras, Hetu Beejs and Kaaran (Reason) Beejs described previously.
