“Om Paraatparaayeh Namah”

(English translation of Hindi discourse given by P. P. Aniruddha Bapu on 03rd August 2006 on Radha Sahastranaam at New English High School, Bandra)

HARI OM

Om Paraatparaayeh Namah: If one were to observe then this is a very complex name. The one who is beyond all boundaries, the one who is further than all confines, now we know the utmost edge and what can be ahead of that? Here lies the dilemma. “Par” is that state beyond which there is nothing, the meaning of the word ‘Par’ is that situate after which there lies absolutely nothing, that state, that location, that place and then this is Paraatpara the one beyond all of that too. We find it difficult to comprehend this, we say that a certain area ends here and there is nothing ahead of that. Suppose we say that schooling ends after the 10th Std, but then again if we say that there is school after the 10th what do we make out of it? There should be college after school or something else. And what about the case when education is concluded and one has to again get the final degree? Like for example in medicine we have M.D or M.C.H that is the ultimate degree, the very last degree, so then how can we call it the last degree if we have to get something beyond that? This is the basic confusion, which is always present in our minds.

If this is the ‘Par’ then what is the ‘Paraatpara,’ what is this concept? Giant volumes of holy scriptures are written to clarify this notion and plenty of discourses are then held on the same and we remain trapped in all of that. But when we assume a matter to be very intricate and complex it is not necessarily so because God is not at all complicated, so this is not a hard perception to grasp. God is the easiest thing to understand in the world. The most straightforward and simple thing to understand in this world is God. There is Bhagwati Mata and nobody else. So when the sages talk about the Paraatpara, we can appreciate the meaning of this term by simply observing all the minutest incidents that occur in our daily life.

Lets take a common instance of a woman who has 2,4,6 or lets say even 10-12 children that she has given birth to and now due to her advanced age she has lost her capability to reproduce more children, she is now about 50 years old and has lost the capacity to become a mother. But does this mean that she has lost her motherliness? Has she lost her maternal instincts? According to her age she has lost the ability of giving birth to children due to age and menopause but even after that she remains the mother of her children just like before.

Let us now see the animal world as another case in point. Like we see dogs and cats, they also have young ones. A bitch too takes good care of her puppies. She feeds them milk, takes care of them, and licks them clean with her tongue but till when? Only till the point in time when her hormones that secrete milk are present in her system and when these hormones deplete she does not consider her offspring as her own, her progeny becomes just another animal from her breed. She has the capability of becoming a mother again next year but she does not carry any motherly affection for the young ones that she had given birth to in the earlier year, this animal does not have the capacity to be a mother for the children she has given birth to earlier. She can continue to reproduce children but the motherly feeling is seized, it’s completely finished. This is not so in the case of human beings. Even if a woman loses her capability to reproduce she yet feels love affection and motherliness towards the children she has given birth to forever. And this is the Paraatpara Avastha.

There are as a result two states of motherhood. One is where she can become a mother, reproduce children, give birth to young ones and when that condition ends she still does not lose her feelings and emotions of being a mother. Thus even after she is well past her physical reproductive age, her motherhood is incessant and everlasting. This is how Radha is, this mother is, how this Parmatma is- this is Paraatpara. Meaning she does not just create this universe, does not only just run it. After giving birth to a being, after granting life to a mortal based on his deeds in the previous births, She does not say that now I have given birth and as a mother my duty, my motherhood is over – no it is not like that She is beyond all of this. When we were born, it was she who gave us this life, brought us into this world; She is with us even after our death. She is with us on this earth after we are born and with us even prior to our birth. She is also our caretaker in the gap between our death and the next birth. This is that Paraatpara motherly energy that is with us beyond our death and guides us, teaches us good values and sets us on the right path and thus prepares us for our next birth too. She is hence with us even previous to our birth, during our lifetime and again after our passing away and also before our next birth. She is with us at every juncture in the form of a mother.

Her motherhood does not conclude after she has given us birth, so we must learn the concept of ‘Par’. How is this Paraatpara? Lets see another example when we go to a school or a college and get some degree and people sitting here will know that after gaining a degree whether of B.Sc or B.Com, M.Sc or SSC whichever one, how much of what we have studied is really applied or used in our daily jobs or business. We hardly use 1% our academic information directly into our lives. Whatever we learnt - the physics or chemistry or biology concepts where have they gone? You may be doing a job of a clerk or collector or an officer but all that you learnt, all the books that you had read of what use has all that been? It of course has been useful because of the books you got the degree and due to that you could get a job, business but you are not fully utilizing what you have studied but we are only making use of our degree. So if I ask you the question whether knowledge is superior or the degree is? Then both the answers will be appropriate. If you say knowledge is important then that is true but if you have the knowledge but not the degree then of what use is that? And the other way round if you have the degree but absolutely no knowledge again then it is of no use. Now imagine someone has somehow obtained a doctor’s degree but will that doctor be able to deliver a baby? Give proper medications to anybody? Even if he does give some medicine it will be of no use. So then what is more important the degree or the knowledge? The answer is both. Both our important for our living. After we gain knowledge we need to undergo exams and earn the degree. After that we start using the knowledge that we have gained. We do have some knowledge even before we got our degree and after that we gain knowledge from the education that we have been exposed to. The knowledge we had before was to obtain the degree and the knowledge later is to make use of the degree - both are knowledge. It is not different only the use of that knowledge was different.

Similar are the operations of Radhaji that till we want to do something for ourselves, till we have that strong will in our minds to walk on any path, here of course it has to be the good path and not the one laden with sins, the righteous path and all the preparations that we have to make for this journey, the trials and efforts for this path and all the strength that is needed for this, all the support needed to take us to our desired final destinations is done by Radhaji Herself. And if even after we reach that state, achieve that degree and still continue to pay obeisance at the feet of that Bhagwati, are humble, do not have an ego that now I have achieved my degree or what I wanted to, now I am the most superior, now I don’t need anybody, then the Bhagwati Mata stays with us and not otherwise. When we achieve something and reach the maximum heights but still continue to have the firm faith that is only this Bhagwati who has brought me so far. All that I have been able to earn so far is only because of Radhaji and I will offer this only at this Mata’s holy feet and will be able do things further only with the support of this mother only then She becomes active and shows you the correct path. Like for obtaining the degree the education was knowledge and then to make appropriate use of the degree again there was knowledge. This knowledge was the same before and after the degree. Similarly at very stage of our life, every state of our life, every moment whatever we want to achieve and at all the steps of that journey it is Mataji who takes us there and how each one has to proceed forward is also decided by her only. If we have faith, steadfast faith and bhakti, only then. Only then does She become the Paraatpara.

Now understand the third thing. Today there is a person Mr. XYZ who is surrounded by many difficulties in his life. This Mother even before the difficulties arise in the life of her child starts planning about how to lessen the impact of this complexity. She plans and makes arrangements for this beforehand itself. She is present before the difficulty, during the difficult phase and even after it. Just think that some person is going through a hard patch of 2 or 3 years keeps thinking when will these phases get over, when will it end? When will I get some relief? But the one who knows the fact and has the firm faith that this mother of mine, this Supreme father of mine, my father wherever He is standing, the difficulty is going to end at that very place. It is not the other way round where when difficulties get over God appears, that’s wrong where Bhagwati Mata is present there cannot be any difficulty, that is why she is Paraatpara. Who is beyond this difficulty? It is this very Mata. The difficulty is bigger than me; the situation, which is not within my control, is termed as a difficulty. The one which I manage I do not call it a difficulty, we say it is a small issue which I will be able to deal with, but what seems to be out of my strength and control seems to trouble me, meaning we find it remote but this Mata lives even beyond that so that means where does the intricacy end? Where Bagwati Radha is standing, this firm faith and patience should be rested till there.

If our difficulties don’t seem to be ending then that shows my dear friends that I am continuing to run and have still not firmly held onto Radhaji’ s divine feet with the faith and patience and affection that I should be doing. I should increase my service because she is standing beyond the difficulty, the place she stands at cannot contain any difficulty. We must fully understand and realize this concept. Many volumes have been written on the ‘paraa’ and ‘aparaa’, that there are seven levels of this and each of these levels in turn has seven stages leading to forty-nine levels and then culminating into one hundred and fifty-eight levels. If we begin reading all of this obviously our head starts going round in circles, anybody’s would. Just try to understand the concept what is the point of reading all the 158 ways or understanding concepts for the sake of it, like 1000 ways of laughing etc, just learn to laugh yourself. Try and make others laugh you will soon be filled with laughter yourself. These things are not so easy to understand. To know the Paraatpara why do we need to know what is the Paraa, what are the seven loks, what are the fourteen bhuvans, what are their levels, what are they called, are they called the spirit? What are their basic elements? What is Kaal? What is Dravya? What is Dishadravya? It is very difficult to understand these deep concepts. Many granths quote about the concept of time as an element. I will ask you where will you find a Dravya called Kaal? Where will you go to catch these Dravya? Is it possible? So then what is not possible for me then why do should I get stuck in the words describing that. No I don’t want to. I must only work toward making my life beneficial. All the difficulties that I have I must solve them and beyond that I have to obtain the love of that Almighty God. I have to increase the strength of pure deeds in my life, if I have committed sins I need to wipe away those and constantly keep trying to remain stable at my Lord’s feet. He is the one who does everything and He can do anything but I have to ready myself to receive His grace. Keep doing as much as you can. This is how the Paraatpara is and now here in one way by which we can understand how She is.

The matter is extremely simple and easy to understand. Everyone has experienced this, when you sleep at night and you get up in the morning, whether on your own or somebody wakes you or the alarm set by you rings in whatever manner but you are now fully awake and what do you say? I slept well, I had a good sleep, I am feeling very rested. Now you were asleep and you can know for how long by seeing your watch or clock, that’s simple no doubt about it. But till you were sleeping had the universe come to a standstill? Did your heart stop beating? Did you breathing halt? No everything was going on and even after you get up from your sleep you do realize that only you were asleep but everything was going on as is. How do you know all this if you were asleep? Who saw all the dreams while you were sleeping? You saw them. But do you remember all your dreams? No we don’t remember anything. You mostly remember all the scary dreams and the pleasant dreams appear so rarely and if they do you don’t remember them. I see many people and one dream, which is very common and frequent, is that the date for the exam has been announced and I am not fully prepared. The exams are after 8-10 days and I will surely fail this time. How many people have had this dream? Today when you are forty or fifty or sixty, you will still have this dream.

Sometimes you must have felt that when you are just about to doze off into deep sleep and you get the feeling that you have fallen down and you get up with a start. Why does this happen? This is not a strange occurrence. When we feel that we are falling from a height just before slumber and get up with fear and nervousness we must realize that my dear Bagwati Radha is telling me that you may have some kind of a fall soon. There is a chance that you might face a severe problem within a few minutes, hours, or days. So she is warning you to be careful. She is telling you that there is going to be some change soon and there is a chance that you might slip down, you might venture onto the wrong path and when a stone starts rolling down from a mountain it does not stop anywhere in between it just lands right at the bottom. This Bhagwati Mata gives this feeling, sensation to each one of her children. I am not talking of the dream here; I am talking about Radha that she gives this sign, this signal to her children that Beware! This is called the “Ahanindranindrikrat am” state. Now let us not lose our sleep after hearing this long word or trying to understand its meaning. The most simple meaning of this word is that Mother Radha is trying to tell us that dear child soon in your life there is going to come a moment where you might slip, somebody might lead you astray, you be careful.

You will ask Bapu what should we do if this happens? It is very simple, immediately start chanting God’s name. My mother has given me an indication that something can go wrong, I don’t have to fear anything as She is guarding me, She is there to protect me, and I just have to begin chanting her name. Sairam, Sairam, Sairam, whatever I must immediately start saying that and I will fall asleep while remembering her name itself. Why is it important to take God’s name at that very moment? Because think why Bhagwati Mata has woken you up that very minute? She wants you to immediately start chanting God’s name vigorously. Only this is going to come in beneficial for you. If you get up and chant on the next day that also will be of use but the moment she has woken you up, the moment when you are falling down from the top, I am awake, my sleep has been broken just understand that Mataji wants you to do the ceaseless chanting of God’s name from then on itself.

This immediate beginning is going to be thousand times more beneficial than the one that you would start on the next day because she is Paraatpara. She knows what is going to happen after this in the next moment and she also knows how to avert that. That is why she is Paraatpara. If She were only Paraa then she would know what is going to occur in the future but would not know how to avert all that which is going to happen next. But she is the Paraatpara because she knows the future and also the plans for changing the course. But motherhood, which is so vast, it, is supreme motherhood, universal motherhood, the one who is Jagdamba, Jagdamba who is the mother of this world. This Radha, Uma, Sita, Janakimata whatever you may call her stays with each one every moment in the form of Paraatpara, but we of course feel that if I bow to her once a day it is sufficient. What am I going to gain by bowing more than once? We see so many atheists who commit so many sins but are still leading a happy life. No. That is not true, every time I keep telling you that each one is in an individual queue with God. Every person is in a separate line with God. So never try to peep in somebody else’s row. I must only have my God’s divine feet in front of me. That’s it. If I want to offer salutations ten times a day, it’s my wish. People might say anything but I am not bothered. Because all these common men are not Paraatpara. They are not even Paraa. These people don’t even know what is going to happen on the next day. So listening to them how can I give a direction for the future of my life. We can’t do so, so if somebody can give direction to my life who is that? This mother of mine, this one who is my father, only they can do this, nobody else. That is why doing Pranaam repeatedly, prostrating, circumambulating, worshipping the Bhagwati, praying to God is not something, which is wrong. If people laugh let them do so. I am not going to lose anything.

We all saw a few days back that an important war has begun. Some member of each country was present in that country where the war was in progress. So what did each nation do? The sent their airplanes to bring back the citizens of their own country. Who was responsible for their safety? It was on the nation to whom the citizens belonged. That shows wherever the child is when he is in difficulty, whose responsibility is it to protect him? The mother. If you don’t have the citizenship of India then even if the Indian plane lands there, will you be able to board it? There were six such people who had gone on the wrong track and thus the plane was not able to bring them back as they did not have the Indian passport. So the Indian flight returned back without them. Here a nation and its representatives also take such care and are alert about their citizens that they did not bring back those without a valid passport.

This is how it is, wherever we are this Radhaji, Kanhaiya, Ram, Sita, Shiv, Uma are eagerly waiting there to take our care of us. But if we don’t have the passport then what will we do? This passport here is not the Indian or the American citizenship one that we are talking about. Here we are talking about the passport of your positive qualities, only of your Sattvaguna. From where does the Sattvaguna emerge? I have written this in the Granth. I only want to tell you that the Sattvaguna is formed only by doing God’s bhakti, by serving God, by tending to God’s troubled and unfortunate children, by always having good and pure thoughts, by reciting good things, by reading good books and holy granths and by having loving and positive thoughts about others in your mind.

Many a times we hear people saying that we want to lead a good life but it is my mind, which is very restless. My mind always misleads me. If you an ordinary person knows this and comprehends this fact then will God not be aware of this? God knows that my child’s mind is very vast, very big but his strength is small and limited. My children are sitting on such a horse whose reins are not in their hands and that is why they end up going on the wrong track. That is why when these children are on the wrong path God does not consider them lost or wayward. Till man keeps working and trying to bring the horse under control and on the correct path he is always helped by God in his efforts, but this is only till genuine efforts are being put in. But what about the person whose horse is trained and the reins are also in control and is a skilled and expert rider too, he has been handed over the horse and the reins and then if this one goes on the wrong path then it is considered a crime. Then God will not forgive him as his ordinary children were not gifted the special strength that was given to him. The one who has a vast mind but has limited physical and intellectual strengths the mistakes, the sins committed by such a person are forgiven, here God knows that my child has erred, but no I will not tell him anything, I will look after him, I will give him protection and shelter.

But the one who has God’s strength, the reins to control the horse have been given, horse riding has been taught and then if such a one knowingly goes on the wrong path then Bhagwati Radha will not appear as Paraatpara for such a one. Here She comes as Apara saying now you go on your own path. So friends till you call yourself an ordinary being, saying that I cannot control my mind, your God also knows this very well. He knows that a common man’s mind is filled with lust, greed, desire, envy, anger, pride whatever all the six internal enemies are and these are impacting your mind. These repeatedly take a human on the wrong path that is why God does not go about punishing everybody. Otherwise you would see in your life that 90% of the beings on earth are lame or blind or handicapped in some way. God does not do this, he is not cruel. He knows that the strength of the ‘maan’ of my child is much more that his physical, intellectual, or spiritual strength and that is exactly why he is known as ‘Manav’. The one whose mind is the strongest and most influential is only a ‘Manav’. But God has also gifted him with an intellect and when we use this intellect and start doing bhakti, and then God gradually takes the responsibility of bringing my horse on the right track. He takes the responsibility Himself. Even if the child falls he lifts him up, and then plans to bring that child’s horse under control and one day finally puts the reins around the horse and hands over the reins to you and says “ child sit I am with you”.

So never ever think that since I have done some wrong committed some sins God will not look at me. The one who carries such thought has then never understood God. They have never considered their Jagatmata to be Paraatpara. If she is the Paraatpara then it means that she is beyond sin itself. Where does paap end? Where Radhaji is standing. It is not the other way round that Radhaji is standing where the sins end. Understand this very well my friend. That is why saint Dnyaneshwar Maharaj has said, “ Hari mukhe manah, Hari mukhe manah, punyachi ganka kaun kari” meaning keeping chanting Hari, Hari verbally with your mouth, you are doing this physically with your mouth and not your mind. Punyachi ganka kaun kari? Why are you keeping a count of the punya? Leave that. When you keep saying Hari, Hari you will get the punya also on your own. Your bhakti will also increase and today what you are chanting just verbally will soon enter your mind too and the chanting will start from there also. Don’t worry at all my child God knows that my child is weak in this matters because his intellect is weaker than his mind. That is why the rishis have told us about Mother faith, Mother bhakti and Mother forbearance and Mother Radha for guiding each of her children on the right path and to give each of them appropriate strength.

That is why we saw in ‘Sarva Jeevaishwariayeh Namah:’ that the power for each Jiva to transform into a Jivatma is prearranged through the five Bals that Radhaji gives us. So first understand that this Radha is Paraatpara and she is beyond my sins, beyond my good deeds, beyond my past birth, my current life, my future life she is beyond all of this. She knows everything and that unit of hers which is with me, what is that? These are Bhakti, Shraddha, and Saburi. By making the utmost use of these parts I can further my entire life and help to fill the life of others too with joy. Ma Shraddha, Ma Bhakti, Ma Saburi meaning Ma Radhaji has made this provision for keeping each of her children on the right path and to give us the appropriate strength. Stop cursing yourself. All of you are doing the Hastmudrika Pujan. We must be after this pujan, which promises you that "I will never forsake you" , "मी तुलाच कधीच टाकणार नाही'' . I will not, I never will but the matter is totally different for the one who wants to forsake me. I do not want to leave anybody, but if somebody has made up their mind that I have to leave this Bapu then I simply agree. I am ready to reduce such burdens from my head. I never ever forsake anybody. The one who wants to leave does so because of his own wish and his karmas. My word is my word. People sitting here know that they have made many mistakes but has Bapu ever caught you by the collar? No. He considers each one of you as his children and takes on your responsibility and that is why keeps putting in efforts.

Always know that Radha is Paraatpara, Sita is Paraatpara She is beyond our entire life. So what do we have in our hands? Three good mediums of Shraddha, Saburi, and Bhakti, which are her seeds. Learn to use this optimally; do not try to count what you do not have. Punya is not within my control, I do not know what deed will give me how much punya, we don’t understand this but please note one thing carefully that is written in the forthcoming third Granth Satyapravesh which is after Prempravas. In that I have mentioned one thing which has been repeatedly iterated by the saints, that if I do a good deed in a pious place then the effects of that increase to a thousand fold directly from one but at the same time the impact of the sins in the holy place is immeasurable, never ever forget this. The pilgrimage places, holy locations, God’s temple, the Gurudwara, the Church, the Mosque in all these holy places when I commit a sin then the result of that sin automatically increases from one percent to countless times. Because the vibrations there are created by God to transform each sinner into a good human being. He should reduce the burden of his sins when he leaves from there. Then if somebody wants to pollute that environment it is non-acceptable, it is not allowed. This is absolutely not allowed we must understand this. So whenever you are going to a holy place please try and see that you don’t do anything wrong there. And by mistake if you do commit a mistake then immediately fold your hands and ask for forgiveness from God. If you are aware that you have not done anything wrong, still before leaving the holy place go and humbly pray to God that I am ignorant, I do not know if some wrong has been done by me so even if I have unknowingly erred please give me my due punishment but do not send me away from you ever. Please take care of me Dear God.

My dears She is Radhaji, she will wipe your tears with her pallu and say my child why are you worried? I am sitting here. She will definitely say this. Because she is Paraatpara. But we have to first discover her Paraatpara form. We are always in fear of her, always scared of her. God belongs only to those who are good and do not commit any sins; this is not at all true. God has placed the jivatma in each and every physical body, that means that he wants to take care of each being, wants to help each jiva, that means we are also worthy of that care, never consider your self worthless, never think that you cannot improve. Why can’t you improve? Our mother is here, our father is here, we will definitely better ourselves however low I have fallen this is still possible, we can still get up from there.

We must decide that I don’t need to go and confess in front of anybody else. If I speak even in my mind in front of God but with absolute sincerity then that is also just enough, only that is required. God is mine and I belong to God. God is yours my children. But ask yourself if you belong to God. So always ask God I know that you are mine but I want to know if I am yours? I know on what occasions I am yours and when I am not yours. So what should I be doing? So keep talking to him, be in dialogue with him, even if you cannot hear his voice it does not matter because he is listening to you. He is always seeing everything; he is always listening to everything. You will surely get a response to your voice from somewhere or the other. So first of all stop considering yourself worthless. If you really believe Bapu’s word then always know that Bapu loves me very much. My father, this Bapu loves me very much so I cannot be useless.

Whatever difficulties I may be in, however sinful I may be, however ignorant or illiterate I maybe, I am very needy, very poor no problem if I consider Bapu my father then I just cannot be worthless have full faith in this 108%. Whatever situation of life I may be in, however impossible the times may seem, however low I may have gone, if I have considered Nanda mata as my mother and considered Bapu as your father and Suchit dada as your uncle then this means that I am not useless 108%. Every opportunity will surely open up for me. Today ten might open and then on the day after maybe only one but each opportunity will surely be opened up for me. I must have this firm faith that I cannot be worthless. If I was so that the intellect to take His name would not have evoked in me. This action would not have happened in my mind. Understand that when you leave their name you become useless. So we must first of all understand and learn that we must stop cursing ourselves. Stop always saying how weak you are and how less your energy is, please know that you are receiving energy form God. What is the energy level of my Mata? She is Paraatpara. How great her power is. It may seem very difficult for me but it is extremely easy for her. But still if she is not doing something for me then that means that this thing must not be good for me and that is why she is not letting it happen, just have that firm faith always.

She comes as Paraatpara in your life and does only what is appropriate for you. She does only what is right. Here I will tell you a story about my own father. My father was a very ethical person. He was always serving and helping others. He must have helped atleast a couple of thousand of people to get jobs. He had a flourishing practice; he was practicing since 43 years in Parel. He then went to a farmhouse and practised for seven years. His practice was next to the medical center in Parel. He never stopped anybody from entering his clinic, if it was somebody poor then he would give free medication. Parel was primarily the mill worker’s area and when the mill strike started and the mill workers had no money my father would treat them free of cost. Some days he would come home without any money, as he would have treated only the needy patients but he never complained and on some days he would come back with ten to twelve thousand rupees but never had any pride. He did not boast. When he did not bring in a single rupee also things were never difficult. He used to join his hands in front of God only once in the morning and that too because my maternal grandmother insisted. My father used to highly respect my grandmother and because she says so and gives me teerth every morning let me bow to God, that’s it but he always did the right actions.

Once it so happened that he had to go to Valsad so he went to Bombay Central to board the train. He had already booked in the morning and one of his fellow colleagues had also gone to drop him to the station. And my maternal grandmother always insisted that you must keep God’s Udi with yourself when you are travelling. But he was not going to agree, as he did not have any faith in the Udi. But since his mother –in-law who was like a mother to him was insisting he kept it in his pocket. When the train came he boarded the train and when the train halted at Dadar station he noticed that another colleague of his was standing there. He was looking out for him and called out DH, DH loudly to him, his name was Dheriayadhar, his friends used to call him by his initials DH. When he saw his colleague calling out so frantically to him, he literally jumped out of the train to find out what the matter was and soon the train started and he missed the train. Normally the train stopped there for three minutes but on that day it stopped only for 11/2 minute and he missed the train, luckily he was holding his bag so that was with him. In those days the frequency of trains was low so there was no other train going to Valsad on that day.

He asked his friend why did you call me? What is the matter? The friend said nothing I didn’t tell you to get off the train, it is just that I saw you so was just calling out your name to get your attention and to wave out to you. My father’s temper rose to is head and thought what a crazy man this was calling out like that to me and making me get off the train and is waving out to me just like that because I am his friend. This friend used to always play cricket with my father in the cricket club. My father was extremely fond of cricket. Now when father returned home he was very furious. My father and mother lived in a separate house and I lived with my grandmother. He was livid with anger and told his wife that since her mother had given him the Udi all had gone haywire. I have missed my train because my crazy friend called out to me and I stepped off the train and then he tells me that he called me just like that. Go and tell your mother what she has done. My mother calmly replied why don’t you go and tell her yourself? So my father who was very angry came to fight with his mother-in –law. When my father came home I was playing outside, I was very young about 5or 6 years old, so he asked me where is your grandmother? I told him that she was sitting inside and then I also ran in the house after him as he charged in. He said here is your packet. You had given me Udi and now see the impact of your Udi. You told me I would have a good journey now see how good it has turned out to be. Now my work is left incomplete, somebody came and called me DH, DH and I got off and missed the train and was left at the station. I am not getting a booking for today and I cannot go tomorrow as it is Sunday and I cannot do the work that I was going for on a Sunday and I just have to complete this work.

My grandmother then told him, I am telling you that the Udi has definitely shown its impact. This Udi is my God’s and it will never do anything wrong. Your work will surely get done and it was necessary for you not to go today. My father who always deeply respected her said if you say so it must be true but you can keep this Udi, I am not taking it with me. Grandmother said just apply a little bit on your forehead and then go home. My father did so and then returned to his house, this incident took place at about 7.30 or 8.00 in the night. In those days everybody retired to bed by 8.30 –9.00 in the night. Suddenly at about 8.30 p.m. he gets a message from his brother that his mother is critically ill and has had a stroke of paralysis. His mother lived in a small village, he quickly sat in his car and left to be with his mother. The remote village had no doctor and it would be difficult to treat her if my father was not here. Additionally she refused to take medicine from anybody else insisting that her son who was a doctor will only treat her and nobody else. And in the case of paralysis if the treatment is not started in the first 6-8 hours of the stroke then it does not have an impact. He left immediately treated his mother and returned home. My maternal grandmother had also gone along with him.

On the way back she explained to my father that look like I had told you it was right that God stopped you from going to Valsad. My father starting weeping and said “ No Mami,” mami this is what he called my grandmother, Mamiji what you said was absolutely true God and his Udi stopped me from going as my mother was going to be in a very bad condition. If I had gone away I would have always repented and felt very bad when my mother would have been unable to sit up. Now this matter was over but he was worried about the work that he was supposed to have completed there and he had promised the same to his boss. What face will I show him? On Monday morning my father went to Breach Candy hospital where he was the head of the department of biochemistry. When he reached there his boss Dr.Dubashi exclaimed Oh! DH how have you done this job? How could you do it? It was so difficult; you have really done a wonder. My father just collapsed wondering that here I have not been able to go and what is he rambling on as a madman. That DH you went there, he also used to address him as DH and have done a job that nobody else would have been able to do.

He told my father that I was very sure that you would go and return just like that, empty-handed. But the job has been done and they have even called me up and said yes to all the matters. Now my father had recently got this job since a year or two and he was in a senior post and was contemplating that if I say yes I am stuck and if I saw no then also I am in trouble. So he asked his boss that what did those people tell you? He told me that your assistant D.H Joshi had called me up and spoke to me over the phone and guided me on all the matters, so I told him that since I am coming to Mumbai tomorrow evening so you meet me there. I have kept everything ready and now I will meet Dr.D.H Joshi on Monday evening in Mumbai and get his signatures. Now just look at the incident. My father had not made that phone call. So who had made that call? The one who’s Udi it was that one had called. The matter had been resolved. That evening itself that person came down to Breach Candy hospital and even recognized my father’s voice. You are D.H Joshi aren’t you I have heard your voice over the phone yesterday. All the points that you told us were correct, we now know where we were making a mistake and it was our fault that we were not ready to sign the contract with you, come on now where do I have to sign? And the signing formalities were over.

Remember that this Udi is Paraatpara and that is why in the Sai Satcharit the importance of Udi has been reiterated. This Udi is Jagdamba herself. This Udi is not just my protection, this is not just power, but this is Jagdamba in the largest form herself. That means we don’t have her in just three forms of Shraddha, Bhakti, and Saburi but now also in the sthool form as Udi, which is also the Paraatpara, form of Mother Radha. This Udi too that is why is Paraatpara. So now we have understood that one form of the Paraatpara Radha, which is the Udi, is with us all the time. According to my grandmother’s instructions my father started applying that Udi every single day. He had the firm faith that because she is saying it must be correct that one must pray to God everyday. He used to believe in the existence of God but not follow any rituals or other practices. If there were some issues then sometimes would chant the gayatri mantra. If my mother insisted or grandmother said that certain days were pious then he would do it on those days and then discontinue again. But after that day he started praying on a regular basis, see this is the impact of the Udi. We all have this Udi with us. This Udi, this vibhuti is our protection it is not some dust. This is the concrete form of Jagdamba; this is the grace of Jagdamba. Radhaji who is Paraatpara, who is Janaki mata - we have the concrete form of her with us. We can adorn the same on our body.

Sometimes we feel guilty when we drop some Udi by mistake on the floor. So what is the problem? This earth is a form of mother Radha herself, don’t you stamp on her and walk? Or do you walk with your hands? No. When you were in your mother’s womb how much you must have kicked your mother? So for that you won’t pay salutation to her? You will surely do that to your mother but if a little Udi drops on the floor don’t think that you have offended your mother in any way because this sthool form of mother is also Paraatpara. Meaning that she is beyond all the good and bad omens. There can be no good and bad signs about the Udi. The Udi container has become empty or has fallen on the ground then it is a bad sign this is just not possible. If it has fallen down then it means that mother wants that area to be protected. Just understand that if the Udi has fallen from my hands on the floor then it was supposed to be so. Something uneventful or unholy was going to happen in that place and my mother has taken care of it and made it pure.

So Udi is mother Jagdamba, it is the Paraatpara form of Radhaji and Umaji. Just know always that she stays in the sthool form with us. So now when you apply Udi be aware that when I am putting the Udi what am I actually doing? I am actually putting a part of Radhaji on myself, putting a unit of Janaki mata on myself. And when a part of my mother is with me what do I have to fear? There is no benefit in just knowing big terms like Paraatpara; the 3 chapters in Sai Satcharit on the Udi explain the Paraatpara form of Radhaji in a very simple manner to us. So pay obeisance to Radhaji, keep chanting God’s name, apply, and consume the Udi with a lot of love and devotion.
